Project Development

LINC is a private-public joint venture, a business model that will speed the completion of a mixed-use development adding research, laboratory and office space as well as retail and restaurant options.

UMass Lowell and the City of Lowell are partnering with GMH Properties and Wexford, two developers that have an expansive and successful history of building precisely these types of mixed-use developments in cities with strong research universities across the country.

By working with private investment to construct the mix-use development, UMass Lowell is able to minimize the university’s need to pay for construction or building maintenance costs while also creating a strong economic base for an estimated $4 million to $6 million annually in new tax revenues to benefit City of Lowell residents.
